Event Description
Things go wrong in every business. It might be a customer complaint that gains traction online, a cyber incident, an accident, a service problem, a staffing issue, a supply chain delay or something happening locally that affects day-to-day operations.
Most of the time, the issue itself is only part of the problem. What often makes things worse is not knowing what to say, who should say it, who needs to be told, or how quickly to respond. In the first few hours, silence, mixed messages or a rushed response can easily cause confusion among staff, frustrate customers, worry suppliers or attract attention on social media.
This workshop will help small and medium-sized businesses think through what they would do before they are under pressure. It will look at how to spot potential risks, decide when an issue has become serious enough to need a planned response, agree who does what, and communicate clearly with staff, customers, suppliers, the media and online audiences.
Delivered by Sandstar Communications, the session will be practical and discussion-based, using real-world examples and simple exercises. Attendees will leave with a straightforward first-response checklist, guidance on what a holding statement should and should not do, and a simple approach they can adapt for their own business.
This workshop is funded by UKSPF and Leicester City Council. Due to funding restrictions, this workshop is only open to those in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
